What much of the press is saying about the trade war with China is off the mark, per SNS. Could the bludgeon of tariffs successfully impact China’s IP theft?
Discussion items include:
The Media, The Experts:
Mass media, driven by "trained economists," reports that China would win "trade war" vs. the US. However, that may not be the case.
The Chinese Economic Contraction:
Since 2015, including when the US began cracking down on China's practices, generally the opposite has occurred with China's investments in the US, the UK, the EU, Australia, etc..
Here's what China won't do if there is not more economic pain: change its model. So, until there is more economic pain, what will China to do?
"Last Tuesday, China and the EU announced an agreement to work on trade issues together through the WTO. According to the AP account, they will "work to update global trade rules to address technology policy, subsidies and other emerging irritants and preserve support for international trade amid US threats of import controls."
In chess, this would be called a "blocking move" by China.
China has zero intention of changing its national business model, nor of making any material changes to its "Made in China 2025" program, the goal of which is global domination of all major technology sectors."
